http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?2344279-037-103-373P-lt-What-is-it-from

some people saying this head has different ports and valve sizes. Some body mentioning about possible group n vwms heads??

i can see most G60's have 037-103-373A as the head number.

Mine is P?

Can anyone shed any light on this for me

Thanks in advance

Well it looks like they work. I had my car rolling roaded today with the new charger i purchased off mimjed

It produced 269.3 BHP :shocked!:

P1919_11-05-11.jpg

Think this is good proof that the engine has a bigger bottom end and a good amount of internal work.

This is all on a stage 5 sns chip. If i was to get it live mapped i imagine it would be even higher. The highest i have seen with a glader and 8v head was 276bhp.

I might try and sell the engine as a whole unit as seems such a shame to break with this set up.

What do you think this head is worth?

Does anyone know the limitations of the standard G60 block BHP wise.

With this power result would you guess it to be a 1.9 or 2.0?

Again i'm wondering if a 1.9 bottom end would be able to deliver this power?

Holy sheet that is a lot from a G60. Out of interest what was the "at the wheel" BHP like? I'm running a 1.9l with a Gwerks fast road head (and schrick cam) and a fair bit of other work and I made just over 200bhp at the wheels. I have heard of higher but not many without going to really lairy cams. Most of the 2l ones are transporter van engines which don't like to rev. There was one from a guy called BERNO on Dubforce who I think got it from BlueJoe on here years ago, which was making this type of power. And CTWG60 had a 2l he was working on as well, but there aren't that many out there.

Not sure of the wheel power, i'll have to find out. Using a online flywheel power converter for fwd it states it should be about 230bhp @ wheels

Yes i have always suspected it had stuff lying within as last year i hit 220bhp with my poorly charger (9-10psi).

I would love to sell the engine as awhole but have not had the interest i was hoping for. Lots of people want various parts so looks like i am going to have no choice other than to break it.

Need the funds for my TFSI conversion and i have to pick up the engine next weekend so need the funds quickly.

What do you think this group n head and bottom end would be worth?

Thanks

Adam

I may be one to benefit from some of this stuff (as per ClubGti pm's), but are you really mad to be going TSi when you have this power out of a G60?

As for the code I have just been looking at that and 'P' heads don't mean Group N or Eurospec specifically, I would get the head off and look for porting and polishing combined with checking the Valve sizes, could well be a heavily worked head (which in itself would be similar to Group N in terms of spec)

correct in terms of spec yes but in terms of value they would differ quite a lot.

I need to do some investergating.

I'm not going TSI i'm going TFSI same engine as a scirocco r / audi TT s and new S3.

They are 265 BHP standard and my G60 is probably not far off it's limits.

I want the new engine as not many have been done yet, it's different to the, now common , 1.8T and there is a massive amount of potential.

With a map i will see 300bhp and still return 30 mpg, lucky to get half that in the G60

Why does the power graph not drop off? Looks a bit fishy, especially for the non cross flow asthmatic 8v head.

The fact that the RR machine is called 'Fritzkrieg' makes me think it breaks down a lot! Perhaps it's not reading accurately.

hi boost monkey - you do realise this thread is to decipher if i have a group N head? If so this would point towards the head not exactly being asthmatic. Although i do note the poor flowing capabilities of the 8V head.

My car does not drop off near the top end and it pulls all the way up. It has a bit of a kick about 5200rpm which in my opinion is not perfect as when you change gear at 6500rpm it drops below this slight kick within the rev range and have to wait untill 5200rpm again for it.

I asked the guys not to take the car beyond 6500 rpm as with the smaller pulley i don't feel it's safe any higher. You can see it starting to drop off at about 6200rpm.

They were not flat at the bottom end as it was slipping on the rollers due to my cross member bottoming out. THink that might be the reason you think it looks a bit fishy.

I'm happy to take anyone out in the car to show what i mean by the above.

I was planning to take this to crazydave to be live mapped but due to my new venture towards the TFSI this will not longer be happening :(

This is a pic of the old print out from last year, on the same rollers.

It shows the power curve much better but they were not feathering it low down so you can see the big curve at the start.

You can also make out the extra punch at the top end on this one.

My plastic charger muffler box was leaking and my old charger was (didn't know at the time) on the way out soon after. Only ran 9-10 psi on this run.

The company is BMW tuning Fritzbitz and i know the owner well enough to trust them. dastek dynamometers are used by quite a few uk tuning companies.

This could be the reason for the name fritzkrieg??

Just thinking that if you don't have full tyre contact with the rollers that it might distort the figures a bit, this would make sense if there is an issue with wheelspin as suggested. But not a rolling road specialist so just an educated guess

yeah bottom end it was spinning it up but with two sat in the car it was fine flat out up the top end.
