another reason to drive an old less complicated car

Recommended Posts

granted, they can save you a lot of harm but my boss has just had a quote to replace the passenger airbag in his 2003 A6 for which the light has just come on permanently for no particular reason,

that will be 1000 of your earth pounds please
:shocked!:

Well I only half agree with that sentiment David.. in so much as, in an accident, I'd happily pay £1000 to know that my forehead wouldn't be redesigning the steering where!

if only I'd known Jim, you could have done a straight swap for your VR with my sister's old 1.4 306 before she sold it on :)

At least when you smash your face in to the steering wheel you would look really cool at the same time haha

As it's a 2003 plate, the Airbag's replacement is a year overdue anyway but I'll assume Audi's aren't clever enough to fault code a 'past it's use by date' airbag :D

I'll wager it's an electrical gremlin. Audis are known for it. As are BMWs. For instance, just taking the clocks out without disconnecting the battery first is enough to permanently illuminate the Airbag light in some BMWs.

Dry joint in the control module or a duff ground on the impact sensor I'll wager...... and yeah, it may cost £1000 at a dealer but no one actually pays that :D

cheers, kev, I'll pass that on, I've told him to take it to a VAG specialist nearby to see if they are prepared to touch it.
