t700bes 1 Posted August 2, 2011 So I have just read in a post, and have seen before that some people get the outside temperature on the MFA... I need to change my clocks at some point (they hum and its VERY annoying) and I was wondering if some intrument clusters are different to others... Obviously with CE electrics I assume I can use any of the Corrado Clocks if I have the loom too. I currently have a cluster from a 1.8 KR Raddo (although I'm running an ABF engine). I don't remember seeing any sensors for the outside temp... As I go through the MFA there is no option for outside temp. Cheers in advance!
RowanVW 0 Posted August 2, 2011 I'm using vr6 clocks I think, they just have one connector at the back, no vacuum pipe or mechanical speedo connector, this is probably best for what you want, I get all the golfs ABF information including temperature. This is fed from a round connection that on Corrados is plugged into the brake ducting, because the golf loom is different I plugged mine into a hole I made in the plastic radiator channels as a quick fix. t700bes 1 Posted August 9, 2011 Are all the clocks interchangeable if you also use the loom then? And do only VR clocks have the outside temp? I need new clocks anyway as mine are humming :(
RowanVW 0 Posted August 9, 2011 I went through 4 different clocks and only the last worked, with everything. One took mechanical speedo feed and had a vac pipe, Two had digital speedo and vac pipe, Last one has JUST the usual connector to U1/U2 on the fusebox and this has worked fine! Basically the same loom works for all the clocks, just the rev counter and speedo might not, some take a mechanical signal and some digital. BTW the Golf MK3 loom is the same plug for Corrado clocks, so ive got the MK3 loom with VR6 clocks, but the MK3 loom takes a digital signal from the gearbox
t700bes 1 Posted August 9, 2011 Ah right, I have an ABF engine and currently using the original clocks (1.8 KR). The MK3 clocks obviously don't fit.. so just looking for some Corrado Clocks, and thought, be nice if I had outside temp.. The current clocks work on the vac pipe. So I spose the question is.. What features on on what clocks... (on a corrado) :)
Purple Tom 0 Posted August 9, 2011 On a Corrado you should have: Clock Time since ignition on Distance Average Speed Oil Temperature Outside Temperature All Corrado's should have the same features, G60's/16V/8V/VR6 all have the same functionality. I've got a set of clocks you can have if you like. Came out of my Corrado when I did the TDi conversion and you can have them for £15 posted if you want them - they're only gathering dust in my garage! t700bes 1 Posted August 10, 2011 Thanks Tom! You have a PM.. Its weird that my clocks have the diagram for the outside temp but dont show it as I go through the MAF (everything else does).
