too hot 0 Posted September 2, 2011 Been offered a VR6 auto very cheap and blackberry!! Apparently there is something wrong with the autobox, full details should be forthcoming over the weekend! Have not got lot of details at the moment, but I am interested in the potential for repair/conversion Question is should I consider buying it and convert it to manual,or persevere with the autobox. I have read a few threads on the autobox and by all accounts it seems to have the same repetitive faults. I really don`t need another Corrado but at this price it would be rude not to !!! Any thoughts??
Pat_McCrotch 0 Posted September 3, 2011 Is it the one in Bedford? Reached £500 (but not the reserve so he clearly wants more) on eBay a couple of weeks back.
fla 9 Posted September 3, 2011 i would go for it! Unfortunately i've just sold my autobox (being collected this evening), which only had 60k on it. tbh i enjoyed the auto, but that siad the auto to manual conversion is not too difficult if you know your way around the engine, plus hter are quite a few of us who ahve now done this and could help out. Blackberry - superb colour too!
ozowen 2 Posted September 3, 2011 I looked at that car as a donor for my 2, but reality called as I would probably have kept it then there would be

Pat_McCrotch 0 Posted September 3, 2011 Was considering going to look as it's only an hour away from me, but the potential difficulty sourcing an auto box put me off. Also the fact he wanted more than £500 for a car you'd have to pay at least £200 to trailer home, even worse if you're in Scotland!
too hot 0 Posted September 4, 2011 Spoke to the seller today and he confiirms that the auto box needsto be rev`d excessively to get drive at first but once up to speed it works fairly normally. He seems to think it ts like a normal car when the clutch is going. He is going to send me more pics to help me make up my mind. Also been onto Shiply to try to get carriage cost from Luton to here !!!!

Also been onto Shiply to try to get carriage cost from Luton to here !!!! Mine used to do something similar to that. Pulling away from junctions it would sometimes sort of rev similar to a clutch slipping on a manual car, then it would jolt and the drive would return. I took the car to a gearbox specialist (not even a very good one I found out afterwards) and they replaced a solenoid. Its been perfect ever since. I took the transporter from Birmingham to Glasgow, back down to Worcester then back to Brum. £95 for the day/ 24 hours. You get 250 miles included in the price then I think it was 9p a mile for any over. They do around 30mpg loaded with a rado! I picked it up around 9am and had it back at 9pm. I thought it was good value.
