vr fault code

my car runs fine but on first start up only first one of the day i have to help it keep idle, i have changed the idle valve and blue temp sensor.

 

i unplugged the stepper motor on the throttle body and it starts from cold fine.

 

i ran a vag com scannerand got the fault code 00533 - idle speed regulation

 

could any one shed some light on this please?

Take a look at the duct between the MAF and Throttle Body, particulalry the bellows for a split in the creases. Look for an air leak.

My mate had a similar problem on his mk2 gti 8v , got a new maf and worked fine again. have you tired cleaning the maf ? or just try disconnecting it see what happens?

if its running and i unplu it then the revs drop and it struggles to run so i presumed it was ok.

 

whats the best way to clean one?

In the past i've disconnected one, the car ran rich and idled . I used lec clean (electrical component cleaner) and just make sure it was dry before re-installing and starting. Clean the throttle body with some carb cleaner?
