Electric windows issue

Recommended Posts

There seems to be alot of electric window issues on here at the moment, and mine has just gone now. Hopefully there is someone that can help all of us, and me :)

My problem just happened all of a sudden,I have never had any issues with the windows before.

Basically the drivers side window will not go up or down. The passenger one works fine off both switches. When I press the button I can hear the motor clicking but can also hear a clicking coming from inside of the panel behind the drivers seat, next to the rear passenger seat.

I am getting 12.4v at the motor and 5.5v at the switch when it is activated, I though that this might be the issue, but it is the same on the passenger side. When I press the passenger side button, I don't hear the clicking behind the drivers seat but the window goes down.

Hopefully someone will be able to help me on this issue, as it's doing my head in, and also have a window that has dropped down about an inch, and there is only so much heat the heaters can pump out :)

Thank you for your help in advance.

Adam

If youre getting 12volts and have good ground at the window motor then it can only be the motor or the mechanism is stuck. Have you tried feeding the motor with 12volts straight from the battery?

Sounds like the window regulator is gone... Winter is comming its common

Thanks for the quick response.

I'm assuming the reg is behind the door card and riveted on to make things really awkward? When I move the window down, or it drops down on its own accord, the cable goes slightly slack but won't move, so I think it must be jammed or broken.

Is there an easy way to fix these or is it one of those lose your knuckles jobs.

Well it looks like after stripping it all down, it has snapped the cable that lowers the window. Does anybody know if you can just replace the cable or is it a whole new assembly.

Thanks for your help.

Ok cool, Does anybody have one for sale at the moment then ???

If not I'll try and make a new cable up for it as the motor is still running well with no noises
