Supercharged 2 Posted November 14, 2011 Yep - very sad indeed and a great shame to see another VW specialist disappear :-( I remember the early days after PD Motorsport when they worked alongside Pitstop Developments G-werks were the original sponsor of this forum and helped Andi out with work on his VR. Darren also went out of his way on several occasions over the years to help me out, I remember being in the workshop at nearly 1am while he was trying to sort a running problem and also taking parts off his own car to fix mine, on another him and Steve came to my house after a show to set up my G60 - 2 of the most enthusiastic people in a VW scene and loads of knowledge between them! As Eric said above is so tough running a business in the current climate, especially in the automotive industry and hope Darren and his family are ok
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted November 15, 2011 You forgot to mention 3 things Steve: 1) Driving up and down your road at stupid speeds in his Sharon V6. 2) Polluting my eyes with his builder's crack. 3) Failure to actually get your engine running for more than 10 minutes. bristolbaron 11 Posted November 15, 2011 The thread about G-werks closure on E38 was locked due to insensitive comments. I am aware that a number of people felt the service they received over the years was not great, however of the very few threads that were started about issues the majority ended well, with situations rectified where possible. A very good friend of mine has lost his business. We spoke on the day it all happened and Darren is more than aware that he's let people down. I wish people understood that any of us could loose our jobs/business in this climate and flippant remarks are not helpful to anyone.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted November 15, 2011 He has our sympathies but when you open a business you have to take the rough with the smooth. We're not into censorship on this forum and I for one am happy for people to air their opinions so long as they are not unfairly cruel or too controversial. We allow it when other VW tuners are getting bashed and people always gleefully stick their two penneth in, so there's not going to be any favouritism on here either. Some of the remarks in this thread come from actual ex-customers of Gwerks and they are entitled to share their experiences imo. For the record though, my comments to Supercharged were meant light heartedly as I was there on that day when Darren and Steve from Pitstop came round after GTI International to help him get his G60 running. Both are nice chaps :D
Rob_B 0 Posted November 15, 2011 Perhaps he could take a look at all the comments people have made and then use them to help evaluate where it went wrong.

I don't think your repetitive snide remarks and sly digs will help teach anyone anything.
Rob_B 0 Posted November 15, 2011 I don't think your repetitive snide remarks and sly digs will help teach anyone anything. Fair enough. I understand he is your mate, but a lot of people seem to feel like they have had awful dealings with them. So I feel I have as much right to slate them as everybody who loved them praises them. So I feel I have as much right to slate them as everybody who loved them praises them. So what are your personal experiences of the company? I don't see how you have any right to slate them unless you have had bad experiences yourself? And why bother, the company has gone now anyway so you're just making yourself seem like that stupid little c**t who puts the boot in once a fight has finished then looks at their friends all smug.. Rob_B 0 Posted November 15, 2011 I've spent a few thousand there on a nice engine which turned out to be scrap along with numerous trips to the workshop to try and get things sorted with no success. No return of email or phone call most of the time. So yeah, plenty of my own bad experience.

CazzaVR 0 Posted November 15, 2011 Gonna knock this one on the head. We've heard all sides of the argument now, and we don't want it to just become a slanging match.
