dr_mat 0 Posted March 25, 2004 I saw that one, and was going to bid, but I've no indication of how many miles are on it, so I didn't in the end. Can't be doing with fitting any more 2nd hand parts..
Dilated 0 Posted March 25, 2004 Yea, well i'm gonna strip it down anyway and give it a refurb before I put it on the car, so hopefully everything should be cool.
Andy T 0 Posted March 26, 2004 Jack the car up and you should see the part number stamped on the rack. I don't know what the difference in part numbers is, might be worth giving the stealer a call to see what part number they come up with. I checked again, VR6 part numbers are the same for 1990, 1994 & 95. Theres also a part number for a set of rack seals - 1H0 498 020 A (16v/VR6) cheers 3 Different racks for the VR?? Do you think i'm gonna be okay buying a rack from a '94 VR6, when I have a '95 VR6? One hopefully going cheap you see, so I was gonna buy it, then i can strip it down and see how it works - replace the seals etc. The guy says it is in good working condition and no leaks, but I want to make sure it'll last! Dilated 0 Posted April 3, 2004 *update* Still waiting for the rack to be sent from the geeza off ebay. Should be here monday i think. Went to the stealers earlier - £65 for the rack seals alone!! scandalous! Anyone know any other suppliers I could try?
Andy T 0 Posted April 5, 2004 Try GPC, they list the most common parts on their website but they can supply almost any genuine part for alot less than the stealers. Might be worth checking with Euro Car Parts & GSF too....
Dilated 0 Posted April 5, 2004 Sorry to keep this post dragging on, but last question - Can you tell me what GPC is, and if they have a web address? GSF don't have the parts listed on their site (i'll go and ask them tommorow in person though) and Euro Car Parts only have the full racks listed on their site. Cheers fella.
