Ambient lighting

Recommended Posts

Just a quick one. I'm looking into ambient lighting options and wondered if anyone has already done something similar? Here are some images that show what I would like to achieve:

What is key for me is that this must not be even slightly 'chavvy'. I either need to get this right or not bother.

As with any aftermarket mod, I appreciate this wont be to everyone's tastes.

I'm sure I'll be attacked by the purists, but I quite like that effect. I have fitted a Passat W8 interior light to mine to replace the original interior light. That contains 2 red led downlights which give a slight red glow at night, which I really like.

I could imagine something like electroluminescent (EL) strip or led strips under the dash to get that type of effect. EL strips probably better as it'll be more even light and a lot dimmer. I could imagine with loads and loads of leds, you'll be lit up like blackpool illuminations.

i dont mind ambient lighting tbh, i think it does add a nice touch. However, i think its more important to get it to come on in the right way ie fade in and fade out, not just a direct on and off. My Audi has various lights in the footwells and on the bottom of the door panels, plus the red led downlighters as JMC jas mentioned and i think its just right. As above EL wire is the easiest option, though i dont know about fading it in and out.
