skid 1 Posted February 15, 2012 (edited) Heater has been intermittently working in my 91 G60. Has now stopped working all together. Any common problems to check out first? I know about the thermal fuse in the late dash models, does this occur in the early ones too? Edited February 17, 2012 by skid
seanl82 23 Posted February 15, 2012 Does it happen on any specific setting? Do you think its more likely the heater control, or the fan? Other than a loose connection at either the switch, fusebox, or fan itself, the only other thing I can think of is broken switch or fan. Take the switch out and have a look at the contacts on the rear. Make sure they're clean and making decent contact with a good 'notch' on each switch setting. skid 1 Posted February 17, 2012 Right i have checked the switch and the multiplug at the fan. All is making good contact and power is going to each connection/wire. Thermal fuse has continuity too so thats not broken. ?????? ---------- Post added at 11:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:01 AM ---------- Thermal fuse has resistance through it. I even removed the multiplug board to bypass the Thermal fuse and put 12v across the 2 supply wires....................Nothing! The bearings are free, i take it the main motor is knackered? davidwort 0 Posted February 17, 2012 put the fan wires straight across the battery terminals to test the fan (you can check continuity first with a multimeter if you like), perhaps the windings have burnt out, they can get down on power as they die and when all the windings finally pop it won't run at all. i suppose it might be just the motor brushes, but thye ar eusually OK, it's the motor itself that dies usually. skid 1 Posted February 17, 2012 I did that and Nothing. Pity the car has only got 50k on it and everything looks and feels good with in the fan. I have just ordered a new one anyway.
