Are you wanting to keep the sunroof functionality or just looking to lose weight? I think I'm doing a similar thing to you and I've had a steel plate made up to blank the sunroof aperture totally as its all about the car diet!!

If that was true, you would use carbon fibre rather than steel ;) hehe

im looking to keep a working sunroof, a carbon roof will be the next step. but for this season, i like the option of keeping the sunroof... its also less wiring, as im running a striiped down loom already, im also trying to get rid of electric windows for manual ones.

@VR6 .. Agreed but I'm also a financial tight arse and 17 stone, one has to realise that there's only so much you can do :p

The manual windows is a great idea, I was just gonna go with Perspex as its not a daily at all but that would be a good compromise. I didn't know you could get a C with keep fit windows!!

All you need is an allen key :)

I looke for quite a while for a manual set up, also tried to make my own winding set up but it's hard work to shift.

Good alternative to a sheet steel stuck or riveted on your roof is to bond the sunroof panel (minus the inner skin) in place with tiger seal or something like, I did this before I decided to weld my sunroof up. Which went surprisingly well and doesn't look like a crinkle cut crisp,

Porki, thanks for the part number link, i will contact a dealer and see if they are available, with regards to the roof, im sure theres a post on here or vortex about someone using a manual roof mech from a passat?!

Making my own may be the only option at the moment...... maybe strip out the motor and put a fine thread into the allen key head to attach some kind of handle? but that wouldnt save much weight.

It would make sense that a passat or golf part would fit but my life is certainly never that easy!! Making your own could work, do you want to keep tilt and slide or would just tilt be ok!?

Let me know what the stealers say in those parts!!
