Swompy 0 Posted March 3, 2012 What's the best way to wire up two amps to do two different jobs. One amp for subs another for speakers.I know how to get a sub working but how do I go about setting other amps up at the same time without having loads of cables running every where? Abdul 0 Posted March 3, 2012 How powerful are your amps? Use a run of 4/2/0 guage then a fused distributor block with two short runs of 8guage goin to the amps. Set your hpf for your speakers amp at 80hz and set your lpf for your sub at 80hz. Have a listen with the gains set on a quarter and adjust to suit. Depending on the type of music you listen to you might want a slightly higher/lower hpf/lpf. ---------- Post added at 6:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 6:48 PM ---------- Oh and make sure you run a pair of rca's lol. Abdul 0 Posted March 3, 2012 100 watts rms? What's the fuse rating on each amp? Will help decide what size power cable to buy. I'm guessing 4 guage will do.
_Meth 0 Posted March 3, 2012 100watt? Thats fairly weak for an amp chap...
Swompy 0 Posted March 3, 2012 If I'm honest i cant remember what size they are. maybe its a 1000watts and for some reason 250 rings a bell for the smaller one I have all the cables I. need just not sure what the besy way to wire them up are.

Swompy 0 Posted March 3, 2012 I will do tomorrow, they're in the garage at the mo So what's the best way to get power to them both as well as the signal from the head unit and then onto the respective speakers/sub Can I piggy back one off the other?
robo22sri 10 Posted March 3, 2012 You will need 2 seperate RCA for them, you can get RCA with 2 pairs in which are easy to run For the blue signal on line you will be ok to piggy back from one to another, but if you run 3 you will need a relay set up As for power you will need to use a power dis block a fused one ;) And earth them to the same point with seperate leads (earth lead needs to be same size as lead from dis block)
Swompy 0 Posted March 3, 2012 Ok cool thanks mate. The RCA is the wire the sound signal travels down right? And the blue signal is the control signal from the head unit?

Abdul 0 Posted March 4, 2012 Use an RCA splitter. Alternatively the amps should have output jacks too in which case you can use that.
