Aqua Blue VR6 for £4600 in Suffolk

Recommended Posts

VR6 | Aqua Blue | Suffolk

Price: £4600

Description:

Right, here we go :(

Background history of the car

The car was produced at Karmann (obviously) in September1994 and registered at Nigel Grogan Chelmsford in January 1995. It spent a very short period in Chelmsford, then another 3 years in Colchester, followed by 10 years being owned & garaged by a gentleman in Ardleigh (outskirts of Colchester) with no expense spared on maintenance at the local Colchester Volkswagen dealer. I even have a receipt for £1400 for Chain tensioner replacement...and this was in 2007! (although they stupidly didn't replace the clutch at the same time, this was done in May 2011)

Very sadly, in 2008 the 3rd owner discovered he had MS and kept the car for as long as he could reasonably drive it for and in mid-2010 put it up for sale. It was then purchased by someone in Ipswich.

In August 2010 I saw the car drive past at a T junction and stalked the owner into Sudbury as it looked so spotless! I gave him my card and said if he ever fancied selling to give me a call. It actually turned out he used to be the drummer in my brothers band. Small world!

Anyway, in January 2011 he contacted me and a week later the deal was done :) And as of then I have made it my obsession to make it the one of the most factory standard Corrado's on the road. Ironically something that in the end cost me allot more than if I went aftermarket!

The Car

VW Corrado VR6 finished in Aqua Blue with rare grey leather interior

Date of Production: 09/1994

Date of Registration:21/01/1995

Mileage: 112,100 (although this will increase slightly with use)

Tax: 12 months

MOT: 12 months (passed with no advisories)

Summary

- Basically, with the exception of the TT Wiper upgrade, TT solid front bushes, Chinese Jetta Headlight switch and re-covered leather steering wheel. It is one of the most original Corrado's you will ever see. Even the rubbish dealer fit alarm has been removed and put to standard. I even went to the trouble of sourcing a period Gamma 4 radio to match the green backlighting of the dash. (this is how sad I am). I've also retrofitted an OEM CD Changer loom into the boot (but haven't yet found a period CD player to go in)

- Engine uses no oil whatsoever between servicing. So no oval bores! Chains & tensioners replaced by Colchester Volkswagen in 2009 and clutch replaced 7 months ago.

- Over £5,000 in genuine parts and maintenance spent in the last 14 months. All documented with receipts. All genuine parts used, I don't settle for anything less as I sell them for a living ;)

- Garaged from new up until I purchased it in January 2011. This is why it's in such exceptional condition. Will soon be going back into a garage until it is sold.

- Recently had all rust sorted including the common rear number plate light area. Front bumper, kick plate areas, both wings, doors and 'windows' out quarter panels sprayed.

- Everything works as it should. Spoiler, sunroof etc. If anything wasn't working it would soon be sorted, it's how I roll :)

- Full VW History with the exception of the last one which I carried out myself. There is a gap between 2009 and 2010 on the servicing but it's purely because it did so little mileage in this time (barely 3,000 in two years) as I spent more time tarting it up than driving it.

- Car is fitted with a private plate, M6 PPS. If you really want we can come to some sort of arrangement for the car without the plate, but to be honest it does help hide the age of the car . My friends thought the car was about 4 years newer than it actually was when I first showed it to them. The car would be an 'M' plate without the private one.

Downsides?

I feel like I have to put a downside even though for a 17 year old car there aren't really any. The bonnet has a couple of stone chips which i'm getting filled in and mopped next week and the rear screen plastic surround has a tiny 5mil chunk out of it. This trim is now obsolete on it's own but comes with a new rear screen so you could sort a new one on your windscreen excess for £70 if you wanted to be really fussy. The drivers seat boulsters are in good nick but the leather on the upper boulster areas is starting to crack slightly. Front leather seat retrim was pretty much my last job to do.

In light of the exceptional condition the price of the car is £4600 ono. If you do not want the private plate we can negotiate the price further.

The car is currently garaged and I will be bringing it out next weekend to get more photos for this advert. I'm not in a massive rush to sell so call me on 01787 371804 if you want to arrange a viewing (I can only do weekends :( )

(continued as I could only put 10,000 words in the first post :) )

The car recently passed it's MOT with no advisories. So it has 12 months MOT and 12 months Tax. This Corrado is rare in the sense that you can drive it away and not have to spend a penny on it. Ask anyone who's bought one and they'll usually tell you they've had to spend at least a grand in the first month

I will give an explanation of why I am selling. I have recently purchased my first house and whilst it does have a garage I've now finally come to the realisation that the Corrado will most likely be abandoned financially in the pursuit of the perfect home and I just couldn't bare to see that happen as it's in such good nick. (As we all know these cars need regular pound sterling fairy dust.) Also, I am moving a good 45 minutes away from the family so I need something cheaper to run and insure. Also, I want be able to be able to take the nephews for days out etc, this is impossible in the Corrado as child seats either don't fit or damage the leather/boulsters. So I am in real need for a 4 door saloon/shed instead. I've been kidding myself for the last couple of months that I can keep it, but i'd just be sacrificing too much.

Finally, having had one of my oldest friends commit suicide recently I've kind of re-evaluated how my time is spent and decided that my best years/weekends should be spent seeing friends and not holed up in a garage  I'll save that when I'm older.

Just thought I would give an explanation and say that I have not lost the love, I am selling purely for necessity and I can't afford to run a shed and keep the Corrado. I really do adore it and will be sad to see it go :(

Someof items replaced and bills in the last 14 months (all items are genuine parts). All work carried out by myself. All bills are from Ipswich Audi (place of work) unless otherwise stated. Items were purchased at staff rate so in reality they would actually cost 20% more ;)

Having seen, worked on and driven this car quite often, it's most definitely a car that belongs in the £4500+ bracket :D

Cheers Kev :) Considering your well known attention to detail that means allot and I forgot to put in the original post that you helped with a good chunk of the stuff that has been done. Especially the radio wiring!

Already had four calls/messages in 3 days. Wondering if I priced it too cheap now

Just thought I would add that the price without the private number plate is £4450 :)

How much with one of the ducks included?

I've known Neil for a good few years now, both on here and in "real life". If I was going to buy another Corrado, it would 100% be from someone like him.

He's not the best dancer in the world, and he takes the word 'anal' to a new level, but (without seeing it) I dare say this is actually one of the nicest/cleanest VR's out there.

Buy it before I do!!!

Well, she's just driven away :( So sad to see it go and not looking forward to life in a run of the mill motor, but needs must I suppose.

You should see the new owner on here soon :)
