16v 1.8 Engine reassemble Issues

Recommended Posts

Greetings to all Corrado enthusiasts.

I've joined the forum today.

My father has a 16v 1.8 Corrado (H Reg).

He is an amateur mechanic (old school engines - he is 70) and has taken the engine out and replaced the head. The engine is now back in and we are in the process of getting it all conected and working again.

The problem is that we are struggling with reconnecting all the sensors, electrical stuff, pipes etc.. Can't find a Haynes manual for the car (Is there one?).

I was wondering if someone has any detailed information for a Corrado engine (schematics, photos etc.)?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks.

Welcome mate!

Have a look on the build threads, or google images for pics etc, as this will help you identify roughly where everything goes. Register on VAGCAT, as the catalogue with part numbers has diagrams of where they go/are etc. You should then be able to cross reference part numbers on your sensors etc with where they should be provided they are OE parts. Alternatively, if someone on here is close, they could help you out. I wont be local to you for a fair few weeks yet unfortunately!

What's the problem? Had a 16v since 1996 so might be able to help :)

The old pink passat Haynes manual not now in print (e-bay) covers the 16v engine fairly well.

Thanks SeanI82 I'll look into all that.

Thanks davidwort I'll see if I can track down that Haynes manual.

I haven't had a good look at the engine yet, its mechanically sound and in the car. Had a brief look and there are several connections that need sorting. Once I've had a good look and done what you guys suggested, I'm sure I'll be back with questions.

Cheers again.
