Henny 0 Posted April 10, 2004 Right, I've had to take the power steering pump out of my car while I did my rebuild, so obviously it's dropped it's fluid (into a neatly placed container of course! ;) ) What's the correct way of re-filling the system, as I know I don't want to run it dry and knacker the pump and the rack??? Anyone know?
andycowuk 0 Posted April 10, 2004 i usually fill up the system with the engine off.....then prime it by disconnecting the hal sender and turn it over for a few minutes....usually there is bubbles and a drop in the fluid level... U probably wont get all the air out untill u run it HTH if different, let me know how u actually do it - incase i've got it all wrong!
Henny 0 Posted April 10, 2004 I've just done it by hand so far... No P/S belt on, top up the fluid to the max, and then sit and turn the pulley by hand for a few minutes.. then lock her over side to side, and turn it some more... ..seems to have worked so far... Guess I'll find out when I try and start her when I get a starter motor that works...
