vanilla gorilla 10 Posted October 9, 2012 considering buying a g60 with about 125,000 miles on the clock. aside from the supercharger are the 1.8 engines generally reliable?
jaded2882 0 Posted October 9, 2012 Yes, I reckon so- most problems are charger or tuning related
16VG60 1 Posted October 9, 2012 PG engine and charger are both reliable , the only unreliable feature is the quality of attention afforded to maintenance of the engineering. Any G60 now is going to be 19+ years old. So if you are looking at a regular unmolested example, you are not so much buying a "car" but moreover an enthusiasts classic. This vehicle is going to be limited only by the diligence of previous owners. My advise to you is by all means buy a G60, they are fantastic cars, but buy with your eyes wide open, and if you are not completely aware of how to evaluate such a purchase then recruit someone who is. Restoration is expensive and good parts are becoming evermore difficult to find. Good luck in your search it is well worth the effort. vanilla gorilla 10 Posted October 9, 2012 thank you for the replies. going to go look at it tomorrow and it seems to be an unadulterated car with a rebuild on the charger within the last 10k.
