re-profiling vr6 cams

Recommended Posts

I have heard alot about new cams and the different benefits.....

would i work the same if you had your current cams re-profiled??? and if so what technical data would be needed?

i know someone who works in the business and can re-profile cams for approx £150 per shaft.

any advice?

I presume a "blank" is basic cam that hasn't been set for any particular engine, and can be reprofiled to your needs?

I meant did Phat have his existing VR6 cams reground or did he have new VW blanks ground at Grant Motorsport?

Blanks are cam templates. i.e. the shaft before it is profiled on the machine.

It is better to start again with a VW blank, as per Schrick, than re-profile an existing cam.

No idea whetheer they were blanks or not, I bought them used for £80.

but they are definitely 268's, and are VW cams. they've had the base ground down to give extra lift.
