Saichy 10 Posted November 4, 2012 Hi. Ive just brought a corrado 2ltr 16v and been doin some research into tunning. Can people tell me if there is any real gain from the kr inlet and cams? Also anything else thats worth doing? Dan
CazzaVR 0 Posted November 4, 2012 Best mod you can do for a 9a engine- do it! Gas flowed, port-matched head/manifold also works well.
Saichy 10 Posted November 4, 2012 Ok then mate i will look into it. Also whats the whur mod?
CazzaVR 0 Posted November 4, 2012 Don't think you can do it on the 9a- don't think it has a WUR?
Saichy 10 Posted November 4, 2012 What is the wur?
aide 0 Posted November 4, 2012 Warm up regulator. They're specific to the kr I'm afraid, isn't one on the 9a. Are dg auto tech still doing the 'remaps' for the 9a?
CazzaVR 0 Posted November 4, 2012 Nope, don't think so. Dave used to do the custom mapping...
Saichy 10 Posted November 4, 2012 The corrado ecu remapable then? Is the k-jet system worth putting on?
aide 0 Posted November 4, 2012 Emission regs won't allow you to put kjet on the 9a. One guy can remap them as above, no idea how to get hold of him or if he still does it...
Saichy 10 Posted November 5, 2012 Ok then got ya. I will keep looking into things then and see what i can find out
G60 CS 0 Posted November 5, 2012 9a bottom with KR head and cams works really well friends mk1 golf ran this engine with the head flowed and ported and was seeing 180BHP saw off a few 1.8t's on the strip at Inters a few years back. If you're interested I have a brand new stage 3 KR head from Jim @ racepower motorsport
corradophil 3 Posted November 5, 2012 Is Jim still working at RPM? The problem you have is the lack of adjustability in the injection system to get the best out of the modifications. For this reason after a lot of adjusting I decided to go to Megasquirt. On Ke-Motronic mine made 154bhp. On Megasquirt with a reasonable setup 178bhp.
