joebrent 0 Posted April 20, 2004 Sometimes when i go to start the car i get a strange grinding, sucking noise?? The sound seems to come from the rear of the car i think? It usually only happens when i try to start the car while giving it some throttle. When i get this noise it usually takes about three attempts to get it started normally. Apart from this all is perfect 8) Any help very much appreciated, cheers guys :!:

joebrent 0 Posted April 20, 2004 Ok guys thanks for the help, any ideas how much a fuel pump costs and whats involved in fitting one?
Henny 0 Posted April 20, 2004 change the filter first, they're about a tenner and aren't massively difficult to change... 8) If that doesn't help matters, then it's time to start looking at the more expensive things (pump is around the £100 mark)
joebrent 0 Posted April 20, 2004 Ok then mate, when i next get some work done ill get the filter changed, would that affect the startup though?
Henny 0 Posted April 21, 2004 yup... A blocked fuel filter will starve the engine of fuel and make starting difficult, as well as possibly making the engine run lean at all times... :? Lots of potential hassles, all 'cos of a £7 filter... :?
