dil 0 Posted November 27, 2012 (edited) I'll have one amp to power both the sub and the front components. With the Amp in the boot whats the best route to get the speaker cables back into the doors & also up to the small a-pillar cover for the tweeters?. cheers Dil Edited November 27, 2012 by dil
OllieVR6 0 Posted November 27, 2012 (edited) I've just wired components up to an amp (no sub) and I ran the power cable up the passenger side of the transmission tunnel, the aux leads up the drivers side, then that left the outsides for each of the front speakers. My speakers and tweeters are mounted in the standard locations, I ran a cable through the normal grommets for the door speakers and the tweeter cables drop straight down. All three cables (amp, tweeter, speaker) then all join at the cross over. I'll see if I can find any pictures. Ok, no pictures of the actual routing, sorry, hope these help: Amp before: Tweeter before: After: Door: Cross overs (last bit to tidy up): Amp after: Edited November 27, 2012 by OllieVR6
dil 0 Posted November 27, 2012 (edited) thanks mate those pics are much appreciated, just gotta figure out now how to get 6.5" in the door. How much of the centre console do I need to take out to get RCA's dropped down from behind a head unit and along the centre? I hear that the heater control is a bit delicate and shouldn't be messed with. Cheers Edited November 28, 2012 by dil
_Meth 0 Posted December 16, 2012 All you need to remove from center console is the head unit to plug the wires into, then the side panel in either drivers or passengers footwell. You will be able to see the cables then no problems!
dil 0 Posted December 16, 2012 ok all my cabling is in place, problem i have is the head unit doesn't have RCA outputs on a fly lead, but are actually connection as you would find on a home stereo, so when i plug my RCA's into the headunit and push it back in, the RCAs hit the rear which i think is the ducting for the air vents & I'm stuck. I cant be the only one that has come across this , any suggestions? cheers
G_Dub 0 Posted December 16, 2012 I know mine is a bit tight for space behind the head unit. You could try something like this
dil 0 Posted December 16, 2012 trialed these today, however they foul against one another. So have ordered some new cables with compact ends.
