Another MFA question

hello :)

 

iv recently bought an early spec 16v (kr) and the mfa isnt working properly :scratch:

 

the time is fine, the oil temp is fine and the ext temp seems fine, everything else doesnt work

 

mpg --.-

miles 0

mph --.-

 

iv used the search but havent found anyone with a similar issue, does anyone have any idea? thanks :)

The speed is used to calculate all three of those readings. If your speedo and mileometer are working, then the speed sensor on the back of the clocks is the problem. Not sure what it's like on the Corrado, but I'm pretty sure this was a replaceable part on MK2 Golf clocks which work in a similar way to early Corrados.

Ive got a late spec VR and my MFA shows 99.9 mpg all the time. Anyone got any ideas why this might be? Everything else works fine.

Ok thanks, i assume that the mileometer not working properly could be the cause then? will get myself some new clocks and see whats what :)

Your problem will be the vaccuum hose than runs to the back of the clocks from the inlet manifold. That will either be disconnected, or split and needs replacing.

 

The OP's problem will be with the gear inside the clocks, assuming his speedo / trip is working. If not - then itll be the speedo cable.
