tony_ack 0 Posted November 28, 2012 The speed is used to calculate all three of those readings. If your speedo and mileometer are working, then the speed sensor on the back of the clocks is the problem. Not sure what it's like on the Corrado, but I'm pretty sure this was a replaceable part on MK2 Golf clocks which work in a similar way to early Corrados. ollielawson 0 Posted November 28, 2012 Check the vacuum pipe on the back of the clocks if it's an early one too as the rubber parts perish and leak
dumptyboy 0 Posted November 28, 2012 Ive got a late spec VR and my MFA shows 99.9 mpg all the time. Anyone got any ideas why this might be? Everything else works fine.

Ok thanks, i assume that the mileometer not working properly could be the cause then? will get myself some new clocks and see whats what :)

Your problem will be the vaccuum hose than runs to the back of the clocks from the inlet manifold. That will either be disconnected, or split and needs replacing. The OP's problem will be with the gear inside the clocks, assuming his speedo / trip is working. If not - then itll be the speedo cable.
