Tailgate spring thing

Hi all

 

I could hear something rattling around when I shut the boot...when I pulled the trim panel off I found a black, spring loaded plunger type thing lying there. There was a square plastic nut but no other washer or anything. Parts are number 16/17 on the pic.

 

Anyone know what this thing is called (I can't find any references to it anywhere) and what function it serves ?

You just about make out the part number,as far as I know,still available,about £6.50

Nice one cheers man - I can see now there should be a circular washer, that's the bit I am missing :-)

Its function is to push the boot slightly open when you hit the button so you can get your fingers into the gap to open it :)
