Throttle Position Sensor - does the fault code nead clearing after replacing?

Recommended Posts

Hi all - several weeks ago my 94 vr was hooked up to a diagnostic program (not vagcom, summat else) and it showed the tps was faulty. I'm going to replace it, but will the fault need clearing if I do, or will the ecu adapt automatically?

Many thanks.

should adapt automaticly , U will have the fault in ecu memory , if U dont clear it , but car should run normaly.

but first of all , before U start replace the sensor , good idea is to check the wiring for ground and positive , because this could be a problem too (broken cable etc) , and propably much cheeper to fix:cool:

You will need to disconnect the battery and run through the basic settings procedure anyway afte rreplacing the TPS so this will in turn clear any DTC's
