jonny_ash 0 Posted January 18, 2013 My indicators work fine up until my car has been running for approx 30 minutes and then they stop working. Doesn't seem to matter how many times I use them in that time just suddenly won't work. If I press the hazard light switch it just glows red when the indicators have stopped working. Been doing it since I had the dash out to fit new heater matrix last weekend but I'm pretty confident everything went back right. Oh and once the indicators stop working they will still flash when I arm the alarm. Have read other posts regarding bulbs, bad earths, flasher unit etc but not sure where to start looking; If it was the flasher then surely it would just stop working and stay broken. If it was a bad earth then why would they start working again straight from the off when I next drove the car Seems to be related to the engine getting up to temp but this may be coincidence. Any Ideas where to start looking?? Cheers John
Supercharged 2 Posted January 18, 2013 Might be worth trying a new relay mate, maybe overheating over time and stopping working.
jonny_ash 0 Posted January 18, 2013 Thanks for the reply. I had a feeling that would probably be the first thing to look at and for once it looks like its a part you don't need to sell one of your vital organs to fund a purchase!!
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 18, 2013 Yeah sounds like the relay. I think the alarm controls the indicators directly as they tend to blink at a different rate.
jonny_ash 0 Posted January 18, 2013 Nice One Cheers. I had wondered why the alarm still blinked them but if it has it's own control then that answers that one. Much appreciated
Supercharged 2 Posted January 18, 2013 Yeah - exactly what mine did, alarmn worked fine and indicators random... My relay looked perfect by the way, brand new inside but there is a chip so I think it had just gone wrong with age - number 21 I think
