G60 piper 285 cam advice

Recommended Posts

I have a ported and polished head with piper 285 cam. Just fitted it to the car.

I was expecting to see a reduction in the amount of boost backed up in the manifold, but I seem to be getting the same if not more.

Cam timing marks line up to the bottom edge of the rocker cover at 0tdc (done from fly wheel)

Have I missed/forgotten something?

Does this cam require a slightly set up?

Google didn't shed any light on the situation.

How does the car drive, does it feel ok?

Have you got bigger valves? I think this is the major influence on reduction of boost pressure.

The car feels very flat at the moment.

It was really savage before the head and cam went in.

No bigger valves at the moment.

I've set the timing at 6 degrees as per the Bentley.

I'm wondering if its to do with the way the cam is... Max lift at 106 degrees instead of 110 as per standard cams and schrick/Newman etc?
