Another door handle issue, same old, same old

So my passenger door handle stopped working last week.

Took it apart over the weekend and look what I found inside the door.

 

So being new to corrados I am going to hazard a guess and say that this is a common failure....haha

 

Is the drivers side similarly dodgy? Given its higher use, does that mean I'll find twice as many loose parts inside the drivers door?

 

Is there a newer better design of the original parts that will stop this from happening?

Or is this simplest method to change to something like Audi style handles? Sadly I guess I'd have to do away with the auto close function.

Yes, as you've guessed this is a common fault. You need a door handle repair kit (I'd get 2 as you WILL need to do both sides eventually) from Daves16v on here. See this thread -> http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?10426-Door-handle-repair-kit-THEY-ARE-NOW-AVAILABLE
