Possible to change the copper bit on the heater control for fan ?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know if it's possible to change out the copper bit that is controling the speed of the heater fan?.

If so any DIY guides out there?

this is on the newer style interior (3 knobs)

Yep, you can remove it and swap it for a new one. Not a difficult job - just remember what goes where!

Is it the sliding "lip" that can be replaced, or the whole copper thingy ?.

Also do I need to take the HVAC control all out - or possible to change on the car?

(Any tips on how it's changed appreciated :) )

Yes, just the "lip" can be replaced. It's separate from the copper ring.

You can probably do it with the controls in place if you remove the plastic surround and the fan speed dial, but if you need more access you'll find the controls are only held in with 4 screws. As far as I recall the copper contact isn't held it by much - it just slots into place.
