Jim Bowen 1 Posted May 30, 2013 Going to give the car a proper clean soon. I want to strip all the old product off it and start from the beginning. Something i've never used properly is a TFR solution, just wondering what people use? Had a quick look on detailing world but they all recommend everything really. Anyone use this IronX stuff on here? Am i correct in thinking that doesn't remove wax?
Supercharged 2 Posted May 30, 2013 All I would say is be very careful with regards to rubber seals - TFR can be very strong stuff! My old heaps looking good at the moment... I snowfoamed it, pressure washed, hand washed then clayed before mopping it with the machine polisher to get rid of some light scratches. I then hand polished with Autoglym SRP (got rid of any swirls / holograms) and then 2 coats of Dodo Juice soft wax (the purple one) Pleased with how it came out and it now just cleans itself - every time it rains it looks like it's been washed again! bristolbaron 10 Posted May 30, 2013 5l APC from screwfix.. about £15 from memory. The budget option is to use fairy liquid.
seanl82 23 Posted May 30, 2013 Have a look in my members gallery at the speedlines being done with Iron-X Jim. Wouldn't recommend it to strip old product off tbh, as it'd be pretty expensive in the long run. Claying will remove any old wax layer, or as mentioned a good APC as a pre-wash will be a good idea too. Bilt Hamber Surfex is my go to APC at the moment. Its awsome on absolutely everything! Daisy APC from Tesco seems to be recommended on DW quite alot for a budget option, although I can't comment from experience having never use it mate. :thumbleft:
