Ridiculously low 1.8 16V inka blue

Recommended Posts

Finally decided to start my own thread... I thought maybe someone as passionate as me would read it.

This is the third Corrado I bought (1st non G60 one and right hand drive). The previous ones (one of them which still i possess) were Aqua blue pearl (LC5U) ones - I think I've just fallen in love with the blue Corrados...

Moving along! This Corrado I would call "love at first sight". What the seller asked for the car (what I am going to keep a secret) got me hooked. When I first came across it on "Autotrader", I straight away called the seller, bought a train ticket, took cash out of my account, got to Oxford... The first time I drove in UK was with this car and I think that's what makes it special.

21/09/12 - the following morning after purchase this is how it looked:

It took me quite a while to get to the point the car is at the moment, but because I think that the thread is worthless without pics - I'm gonna go through it.

The car was in an excellent shape (for the price I have bought it). It had a lousy paint job though - the lip and some other plastic parts which were painted over did not look right and it all got sorted eventually...

First thing I started off with was the ceiling - I had the old dettached fabric replaced with some tartan:

Just because I thought that was not enough I had the headlights cleaned and painted:

I had to take this picture as my wife was working at Renault at that moment...

The work on the car took me some time as I work and I am a full-time student, but whenever I had a chance - rather than going out I would spend the time on the car. In the end - image is everything .

One of the first more noticeable mods that I've done was the steering wheel which I attained of a Ford Escort for £5.

Always used to love that retro look... Anyway, I had to cut the original steering wheel boss (as it was welded on) - there is nothing that the hack-saw would not cut. Afterwards I had it prepped for painting (at that point I was thinking of polishing it but somehow i changed my mind).

Could not help it - I had to stick a Porsche sticker on top after the job has been done :)

Continuing the thought about the pics:

Throughout the year not a lot of jobs have been done as this was my daily car. I bought myself a set of wheels, which I think look good, with some new tires:

Of course it was left untouched throughout the winter...

Parked my car next to a Porsche in spring - could not help not taking a photo

Had no time to spend on the car which led my to spending money on brake pads as they were completely worn. The garage quoted me £125 for the replacement and the works that have been done. In the end I was bleeding the brakes with a help of my friend and a bottle of Corona outside my new (rented) house as they did a "crappy" job - the whole brake system was full of air. I have replaced the front panel at that time as well as the one that i bought the car with was bent - it has obviously had an accident, although a minor one.

I thought that the wheels didn't look good without the center caps and I let my imagination to break free

This is the point where it got to a "ridiculously low" stage...

At the moment I am working on some engine bay mods and hopefully I will be done by the end of summer:

Porting, aligning and cutting will take place. Eventually, I am hopping to get the TGVs off a Subaru to work like proper ITBs :)

Looks good! I like it. Needs to go lower. It's not low enough, never mind ridiculously low. When your sump starts taking out cats eyes; you're low enough

I hope your steering wheel is held on by more that what it looks like in that photo!!!

Oh yeah, that was just for test fitting. 4 bolts holding it in place. Had to make a custom horn button as well.

Splitters on the corrado's sit horrendously low! get a smaller splitter and go lower ;)

Nah, I love it when people hear me coming (over the speedbumps) lol.

BTW does anyone know how much would it cost to fix a dent on the wheel (1st picture in previous post) and where in Birmingham?
