timmaaah 0 Posted October 31, 2013 My heater direction control knob gear broke yesterday - I've got the bit of plastic that broke off - has anyone successfully repaired one of these gears? I was thinking about using superglue to hold the broken bit in, then filling in the big gap next to it with epoxy resin/J B weld. Anyone done this and has it worked? I'm also looking for a replacement non-broken one :)

bristolbaron 11 Posted October 31, 2013 superglue wont do the job as the slider pushes against the plastic as it turns. Mine had broken, but i had a spare broken control.. i used the spare plastic to plastic weld [well, push a bit of melted plastic around with a soldering iron] mine. The shape doesn't need to be perfect, but it does need to be properly strong. I guess you could used plastic from something else if you dont have a spare bit..
