Project Rado VR

Recommended Posts

So i had a Audi A4 show car witch is now my daily but this month i picked up a 1993 VW Corrado VR6 2.9.

Here's the spec:

Mileage of the shell: 196k

Mileage on engine: approx 70k

Colour: Moonlight Blue

The engine: The previous owner spent a lot of money at Stealth for a rebuild, this was based on a low mileage engine with 60k on the clock, the engine was inspected and a full top end rebuild was instructed. I have receipts for the thick end of £1500. This means that this engine is absolutely spot on and does drive really well also i have a rolling road print out at 200.8 BHP.

Other spec:

Koni top adjustables and H&R Springs

Milltek full stainless exhaust

Polished rocker cover

Braided hoses for brakes

The body work is not the best. Various small dents and a couple of bits of rust here and there. I have many spare panels in the correct colour that will sort some of this. Also the laquer is faded in a couple of areas. Bodily it needs TLC.

Interior is good but needs a good clean

But the reason i got this Corrado was because all the electrics work. Sunroof tills and opens, The spiller goes up when over 45mph and goes back down when stopped also works on the switch and the MFA still works with oil temp, outside temp and time so was a good buy.

Here some photos from the add i need to find time to get on a big clean as I'm working all the time at the min so i don't have time but when i i do i will upload some new photos.

I was truly sad to see this go, had been a great car for us, had it 3 years and it never once missed a beat. Was used as a daily when other, more modern, motors broke and then at other times just as a toy. I will miss it but hope Jay gives it the love it deserves. It is a good car in need of cosmetic rehabilitation.

However the sale means that my Mk2 Golf can come back out to play, 13 years of ownership meant that it was always going to be the priority.

Looking great Jay, i regret selling that car to some extent. I like what you are doing though (although stretching tyres and running silly low are a thing of my past now).
