dr_mat 0 Posted May 19, 2004 Not if one brand is SACHS and the other BOGE, as they're made on the same production line by the same people...
kuksool 0 Posted May 19, 2004 i have no idea what brands they are ive been told all shock legs are built to the same spec. For instance in how much preassure the cars weight puts on them! so there ok as long as there both sport oriented they should be ok ??????
dr_mat 0 Posted May 19, 2004 Presumably they'll have different damping rates. Handling might be a bit "interesting", but I doubt it's more dangerous than 10-year old shocks, as long as everything is good, and not leaking/bouncy etc etc.
kuksool 0 Posted May 19, 2004 ok mat! ill let him know what youve said.... would you advise changing them so they are both the same or would you change all the shocks to one brand?
dr_mat 0 Posted May 19, 2004 I would say that if they're drastically different, he'll know pretty quick in the handling that it's not right. If they're pretty similar, it's probably not worth changing them unless he wants to upgrade or they are looking dodgy. As a general rule I don't think anyone around here would advise fitting mismatched shocks on a car, so god knows how they wound up like that!
kuksool 0 Posted May 19, 2004 yeah i dont know how they ended up like that either? but ill see if i can take it for a spin and see what its like.... hes a bit of a sunday driver so im sure he wouldnt know anyway if it wasa boat! Scott
