vw bobby 10 Posted December 3, 2013 Hi All, I have a set of of 8 x 17" BBS 090's (Style 5's) and want to split them so I can repaint the centres. The trouble I am having is releasing the bolts and nuts, is there a special socket and spanner I should be using on these? As I tried a 11mm socket and spanner and having no joy. Do I need to heat these up to loosen them off? Any help is apprciated Cheers Bobby
leon263 0 Posted December 3, 2013 They should come apart without heat but there was probably a dab of thread lock on them when they were assembled so they will be tight. Use the proper double hex or 12 point socket front and back and unscrew the nut while holding the bolt. A shot of WD40 will also help.

MarkFoster 0 Posted December 4, 2013 Laser tools do split rim specific impact sockets in various sizes. As an example; http://www.lasertools.co.uk/item.aspx?cat=1108&item=5360 M.
