Ruskin 10 Posted December 12, 2013 Hi :afro: I came to this forum a while ago explaining that I had recently purchased A corrado and it needed some minor work, and I would start up a thread explaining the progress of the car and with some neat pictures. You can read more about me on my profile or on my initial thread in the new users section. Well I just replaced the fuel filter and ordered a new fuel pump, and the car started right up today after I replaced the fuel filter. I don't have any pictures but tomorrow or friday I definitley will get some pictures up here and you guys can check it out! Thanks, everyone! :bonk:

Ruskin 10 Posted December 13, 2013 Tomorrow, pictures of the car will be up. drove the car a bit today, ran good, just runs a little hot, I think. I think after replacing the fuel pump the next move will be to flush and clean the radiator and replace it with good coolant, and change the oil... should I perhaps change all the cars fluids out, because of the length that the car sat? (Sat for 8 years in showroom)
Ruskin 10 Posted January 21, 2014 So as you can see, I am a little behind schedule on those pictures :bonk: but I did not forget forever. With school, work, and private/family life, I kinda set this forum on the back burner for a little while. although I don't have a picture to put up right now, I will soon. I replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter, and the car started right up. The previous problem, where the car would not start and would sputter while driving was gone... for the time being. however after 1 1/2 full tanks of gas and some fuel system cleaner later, it was back to sputtering... a few days later, it stalled out while driving and wouldn't start again. my buddy was able to get some of the black, tar-like substance out of the gastank (4-5 tablespoons) before the fuel pump replacement, however not all of it. I assumed that the fuel filter was clogged and needed replaced, or at worst the pump was bad again. however, when you try to turn the car on this time ample fuel pressure is available, whereas before replacing the pump and filter it wasn't getting enough fuel pressure built up. and the car has spark too, so that isn't why it won't start either. so my buddy who knows a lot more than I do said it may be the computer and could be from a blown fuse to a complete mess. thoughts? I don't understand how it could be the computer, but what do I know.
southerner88 10 Posted January 21, 2014 I am having a very similar battle with my VR6, she kept stalling when slowing down for junctions etc, then one day would turn on at all! when I turn the ignition on, there is no sound of the fuel pump priming. I have a fuel pump on the way and have just replaced all plugs, ignition leads and fuel filter. She still wont fire up so waiting for the fuel pump! Ive been told that certain fuel system cleaners (REDEX) actually clog up Corrado's Fuel Filters - not good - so possibly that could be an issue for you? The first thing we tried was swapping over the relays on the fusebox with known working ones, this didnt make a difference haha so then went to the next cheapest option and so on. Always worth a shot looking at the simplist things too though, find which ones they are and if possible swap them over for known working ones, or give them a good sniff and see if they smell burnt at all... best of luck with your investigations
Ruskin 10 Posted February 18, 2014 Alright so i'm back, almost one month later with an update. My primary vehicle was in an accident and insurance did not cover it, amongst other things, so the corrado was ignored for some time while working on some other things. now my main vehicle is back online and we are working on the corrado again :thumbleft: . I took the car to a mechanic because at this point I had no clue what else could be wrong with it, and he told me over the phone that he thought it was two of the injectors. he replaced two of the injectors (he said two were clogged?) however that obviously wasn't the problem, because there was no difference in the car after the operation, it still will not start. I am going along with my buddies guess that it is the ECM (ECU PCM PCU, whatever you wanna call it) and I just ordered one. if that is not good, than I am not sure what it would be. If anyone on here has any advice on what my next move should be I'd love to hear it!
Ruskin 10 Posted March 19, 2014 So I have the car up and running; have driven 400 miles now without skipping a beat. It was the ignition coil that was the problem, everything else is fine. (As of now) runs hot a little bit and clutch squeaks if I push it in while the engine is off, (also when it is on too I assume just can't hear it) so I'm getting that checked out Wednesday. Tomorrow I may have some time for some evening photos to upload. I hope you like my car! Now here is the part you want to read. What should I do with this vehicle? Having 35,000 miles on it and having sat in a showroom for some time, it is near mint condition, especially for a 1990. I am an 18 year old car enthusiast (not the kind you're probably thinking of.. I'm not a stupid kid) and I like nice cars, and care about keeping them nice, not revving my engine for all to hear in the parking lot of the nearest convenience store. Knowing there are some cool and fun things I could do to the car, I am inclined to keep and modify it myself. However being in the condition it is in and with that mileage, I feel I could really do well finding a vdub enthusiast who wants it and make a large profit and buy another vehicle that I would enjoy working on and driving. So what would you say I do in that situation?
