Nick 17 10 Posted December 23, 2013 Hi guys and girls, I was driving the car the other day and noticed an oil leak behind me once I had parked it up. After a quick look under the car and a look through the bonnet I think I have found the source of the problem but I do not know what it is. It looks like it is coming upwards and pooling on top and then dripping down? Any help appreciated :} Thanks Nick
Goldie 2 Posted December 23, 2013 Thats the oil filter housing. There are 3 senders that bolt in there… Im not sure which one is which though as i just changed them all..
Nick 17 10 Posted December 23, 2013 So it would seem i need a new oil filter housing then. I would assume a seal has broken or something :)
Goldie 2 Posted December 23, 2013 No not the housing.. It will be fine.. When the senders fail the oil can come up through the electrical connection, that looks to be what has gone on there.. You need an oil pressure sender, the one next to it is one also so i can't advise which. If in doubt id do both. They are both available from the dealer.. Wullie 1 Posted December 23, 2013 The senders themselves can leak which normally appears around the terminal. Give it a good clean and observe while the engine is running. Horrible weather though to be hanging out of an engine compartment.
Nick 17 10 Posted December 23, 2013 Cheers for the advice guys, I cleaned up the oil with a paper towel and restarted the car, the oil leaked up through the sensor circled, but as said I had might as well do both if I am doing the one. Any idea on prices from the dealer? And part numbers? Many thanks Nick
Goldie 2 Posted December 23, 2013 Left 028919081D oil pressure switch 0,25BAR 1 pin blue (your leaking one) Right 068919081 oil pressure switch 1,4BAR 1 pin black I think they are around a fiver each. Don't quote me on that and just check the part numbers with the dealer although i am confident..
