simonfa 10 Posted December 24, 2013 Hey guys, i am looking to get my VR6 back on the road in feb 2014 after a long 9 month ban for drink driving..... Does anyone know where would be the best place to go for a quote having the DD on my license? I was paying £286 per year fully comp with Classic Line insurance (Who are superb by the way) But they will not insure me next year due to the conviction. Im 34 and self employed and the only prices i've got so far are off a comparison website and the cheapest is over £1400!!! :bonk:. Any info would be great, thanks Simon
Jim 2 Posted December 24, 2013 Got to love insurance companies. You dutifully serve the punishment of the ban, and they still refuse to insure you afterwards. Good luck - hope you manage to find an insurer who will help you out!
seanl82 23 Posted December 24, 2013 Use the specialist companies mate. HIC, Adrian flux, etc, as these are the ones more likely to give you a reasonable quote. The mainstream companies will just see you as an owner of a performance vehicle who's had a drink driving ban, so your just a statistic and will command a higher price. The smaller companies are a little more personal I think, but will likely have restrictions. It's a compromise, but needs must and all........
simonfa 10 Posted January 10, 2014 Adrian Flux was over £2000..... Some companies (So called specialists for DD) have quoted near on £3k!!! Its an absolute joke... Guilty and punished before the fact! Ive paid my debt to society with a hefty fine and a legnthy ban and considering the reoffending rate is just 17-18% (Lower than that of someone with no DD charge) i find it absolutley gob smacking that tossers within the insurance world can charge so freaking much!!!
