randal 0 Posted May 22, 2004 On the drive home last night on the M25, I noticed the temp light was flashing. Both the gauge and the MFA were reading pretty normal temps - gauge was about 100 and MFA around 96 (this was after about 20 minutes driving btw). If I kill the ignition, then kick it back over the light goes out, but when I start driving again it comes on without any sign of stopping. I'm guessing this is a knackered sensor or something. If it helps, I had to replace the oil cooler/water jacket hose on tuesday (which sorted out the water leak I'd been having for some time nicely!) Any ideas anyone? Thanks randal
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 22, 2004 Do 16V expansion tanks have a coolant level sender? It's probably that that is up the swanny. A cheap fix  K
randal 0 Posted May 22, 2004 A cheap fix  My kinda fix! I'm going to go over the contacts and stuff today make sure they are all cool. Failing that, I'll swap it out and see how it goes. Cheers Kev. randal

A cheap fix  K Pretty sure thatl'l be it, or your coolant level too low perhaps!!! Should be two wires going to a plug on the side of the expansion tank..... randal 0 Posted May 22, 2004 Sensor is fine, but the bloody coolant level was through the floor AGAIN. Looks like I'm going to need to leak test it once more, sodding thing. Cheers for the pointers all. all the best randal
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 22, 2004 Ah bugger..... any tell tale clues as to where it might be leaking from?
randal 0 Posted May 22, 2004 I *think* it's coming from the smaller pipe on one of these --> I thought I'd split the hose when I had to change the other oil cooler hose on tuesday, but it seemed to keep pressure OK. Grr, I hate being wrong. Will have to look in to it tomorrow, cos I'm far too drunk now - and dinners on the table. Hehehehe, I have to act sober for my last meal in this house... HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 22, 2004 Yeah I'm a bit sloshed myself actually, hence all my un-characteristically jubilent posts today  Have a gander tomorrow in the Sun mate..... I'm sure the offending leak will reveal itself if you have a good snout at the engine whilst it's running.
