Joe M 0 Posted December 4, 2002 My car has recently started juddering when releasing the clutch moving away from standstill, its occasionaly slightly noticable in 2nd but there are no signs of it slipping. Any ideas? engine mounts or could it still be the clutch although its not slipping? Joe '93 2.0 16v 117k probably original clutch
Joe M 0 Posted December 4, 2002 Confirmed as clutch by e-group, best price I have for a clutch is £105 from ECP or £92 from GS&F. Im planning on getting my gearbox oil changed at the same time, any recommendations on oil and how much will I need.
Banana Man 0 Posted December 4, 2002 The correct capacity of the gearbox is 2ltr's and you should be using ep80 transmission fluid which is synthetic based
dan 0 Posted December 16, 2002 Don't change your clutch. The juddering you feel on take off is well known to VW. It is caused by slightly different sizes in the gearing cogs. It is also common on the VW Transporter vans and some other older models. I changed my clutch thinking it would solve the problem, but guess what? it didn't. The judder can be felt through the clutch pedal especially on first take off of the day. It is not a major problem and it will not get worse. My advise, save your money Hope you see this in time, Darren
