Corrado dilema!

Recommended Posts

I've had my corrado for a couple of years now and i really love it. However, it is my daily and i suspect that there may be a headgasket leak. Theres no contamination in oil or coolant but the coolant is getting pressurised.

My dilema is: do i fork out (I'm guessing circa £1200) to have it repaired or do i cut losses and sell the car cheap with the known potential issues?

Got some nice bits waiting to go on it and feel it has potential but just dont know if its all worth it!

What would you do?

Repair, no way £1200, £5-600 more like for a head gasket, i suppose it's who you know though and i could see someone getting ripped off if they didn't know their mechanic.

Thanks for the reply, if it were 5-600 i'd definitely repair. I dont tend to go to mechanics often, normally have a crack myself but Head gasket seems a bit more specialist and being a teacher i dont have a great deal of time.

If anyone can recommend a reliable (and cheap) mechanic in the Kingston upon Thames/ Surrey area that would be great!

I've used these guys before. Seemed ok and not only had another Corrado there but also a Delorean. I'd use them again. They also had a car mag in the office with a Corrado on the front :)

It's in Guildford but right next to the train station so getting back to Kingston should be easy or just spend a few hours shopping or take a look at the castle nearby.

Also you must be almost next door to me. I'm in Claygate, 15 mins from Kingston.

EDIT: I used these guys once for my Golf and wasn't impressed at all: http://www.jpgarage.co.uk/ I mention it because it's right between Kingston and Hampton Court so may have been on your list. I can't recommend them.

Get them to do a sniff test to prove combustion gasses are present in the coolant system

Yeah i used a kit and there was a slight colour change so at the moment i dont think its critical but there is some combustion gas in there.
