Looking at a VR6 tomorrow

Recommended Posts

Taking a look at a VR6 tomorrow:

Dec 92 dragon green, FSH, only 59k miles.........problems with it are sunroof doesn't work and also the speedometer is sticky. Not bad at £4k though, what do people think?

Sunroofs are a lot???

Nope.

If you fancy getting your hands dirty, about £80 in parts and a good days graft getting it fixed. Alternatively you could take it to VW who would probably charge you £500 to fix it. But either way, if its as in as good condition as it should be, thats a pittance to get it sorted :)

As for the sticky speedo.. anyone else know about that?

Thats good news. I think for the money (£4k) its probably a good buy....low mileage.

Will have to HPI it though - went to look at one out of Autotrader two weeks ago, looked a good un, low mileage - HPI revealed it was a write off....

Pretty sure the VR has an electronic speedo, so it may need a new speedo head. If this is the case you'll probably better off getting the whole dial cluster from a car that is being broken. Usually go for around 70-100 quid.

Unless someone's had the needles off and they've gone back on a little tight which could cause them to stick a little :?:

Anyway, if it's a straight car £4k is a very good price.

Have you checked out the buyers guide for things to check over? (Sorry if you already know the cars inside out and I'm teaching you to suck eggs :) )

If sir would care to step this way, I have a very high mileage but very well maintained (with documentation to prove it) Black VR6.

Yours for £2750.

Mike - Shouldn't the 215bhp be amended a bit now that a few vital performance parts have been removed? ;)
