Starter motor help

Could anyone tell me if the starter motor from an 1.8 16v would fit a 2ltr 16v please?

Or are they totally different?

Different part numbers but fairly sure they'll interchange, most 02A's do - people used to fit TDI starters to petrol cars as they were more heavy duty.

Yeah, will be fine, original spec was slightly different as the 2L is slightly higher compression but it will work fine, you might find one of the small connections has a different plug on it depending on the year

Thanks guys, any idea what TDI starter I should look for as I think this might be a better option.

For some reason this car does not like starter motors as I have swapped it twice already.
