Revs rise considerably when Fan kicks in!!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok its just started to happen, cars been parked up quite alot recently.Only thing iv touched is a wire when i was checking out the fuse box.Found two wires not connected a male and female, numbers on them were 14 and 15 so i plugged them together-the wires were different colours-could this be the cause?the revs rise from 1k to around 1750-2k when the fan kicks in.Also when driving the engine doesnt settle back down to 1k everytime-quite often sits about 3k.

If it aint broke, don't fix it, if it's broke after you fix it, try un-fixing it again, I reckon! :|

Thats normally my theory, but as i was removing the fuse box i wasnt sure if i knocked the wires and they came undone, just seemed weird that there was 2 wires not connected to anything, and they fit perfectly together.

I only wish i new if they were or wernt connected. Is it the norm for different coloured wires to be connected together-i would think not but im not clued up on electrics.Drove the car yesterday didnt notice any probs with the REVS so fingers crossed!
