whats this wire for?

Recommended Posts

ever since i changed the engine mounts the c had been running like a right dog. pinking rough idle and vibration. :x

well when i was at the deva show on sunday i popped the bonnet to have a poke around while i was waiting for some mates to turn up, and i found a broken wire on top of the right rear engine mount, as i was looking at it from the front of the car it was the far left wire on the plug(red/white) sheared off level with the top of the plug.

i took it easy on the way home and took the plug apart when i got home (had some contact pins the same left over from a jcb test rig i worked on) soldered it back together and the c now runs beautifully 8)

any ideas what that wires for??? lambda sensor maybee?? :?

also anyone know where i can get the clear plastic spade connector covers as most of them have turned to powder??

not sure which wire you mean but it may be a heat wire. the probe is 4 wire

signal

ground

2 power for heat circuit.

if one brakes the car will only run properly under fairly hard runnig when the probe can heat itself with gas temperature.

The lambda wires are clipped to the *left* rear engine mount. The right rear engine mount holds the gearbox and any wires there will be either reverse light or speedo related.

thats the one i meant i was thinking of my right when i was driving. never mind just me confusing matters as usual

so that would explain the running like a sack of sh*t before i fixed it then 8)

LOL, nevermind. Yep that would have been your 02 sensor wire snapped off then! Should run a whole not nicer now.
