Jim Bowen 1 Posted October 2, 2014 Thought i may as well ask on here as well, seeing as most corrado owners have other vags etc Got a 2005 Audi A3, BKD 2.0 Tdi engine. Had the engine management light come on a few weeks back, Vagcom'd it and told me: 1 Fault Found: 16567 - Fuel Temp. Sensor A (G81) P0183 - 000 - Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent Freeze Frame: RPM: 756 /min Torque: 54.0 Nm Speed: 13.0 km/h Load: 0.0 % Voltage: 13.98 V Temperature: 23.4°C Temperature: 38.7°C Temperature: -37.8°C Bought the new part, fitted it and cleared the code. All sorted. Then the last couple of days the light come back on and also can't turn the air con on (ECON) button stays lit up. Scanned it tonight and got: 3 Faults Found: 19557 - Motor for Intake Manifold Flap (V157) P3101 - 000 - Open or Short to Ground Freeze Frame: RPM: 1155 /min Torque: 130.0 Nm Speed: 26.0 km/h Load: 26.3 % Voltage: 14.14 V Bin. Bits: 11000100 Torque: 168.0 Nm Torque: 140.0 Nm 17075 - Fan 1 Control Circuit P0691 - 000 - Short to GND Freeze Frame: RPM: 1260 /min Torque: 0.0 Nm Speed: 34.0 km/h Load: 0.0 % Voltage: 14.14 V Bin. Bits: 11000011 Temperature: 86.4°C Duty Cycle: 9.6 % 19558 - Motor for Intake Manifold Flap (V157) P3102 - 000 - No Signal Freeze Frame: RPM: 0 /min Torque: 0.0 Nm Speed: 0.0 km/h Load: 0.0 % Voltage: 12.31 V Bin. Bits: 00000100 Torque: 0.0 Nm Torque: 354.0 Nm Readiness: 1 2 0 0 0 Closed bonnet and did something else instead. Car seems to drive fine, used to be a bit juddery in the morning before the fuel temp sender and that's gone away. I do notice that after a journey and turning engine off it seems to shut off with quite a jump, bit more sudden than it was (a bit like if you stall it). Could it be an earth issue? All i could see under bonnet that caught my eye was a very small amount of oil around the turbo, seems to blow a bit onto the alternator.
Jim Bowen 1 Posted October 2, 2014 Scrap that, think i've found an answer, bloody car is costing more than the corrado :(
corrado wannabe 12 Posted October 3, 2014 Jim, my last car was a 170Tdi A4 Avant BRD engine. I will try and dig out a thread I had going over on Audi Sport, it is grim reading Im afraid. I was lucky as it was an Audi used approved so it was all covered under warranty. However they must have thrown about 4k at it. Apart from a myriad of other things that went wrong with it, they did have to change the inlet manifold. Apparently there is a small plastic diaphragm in it, however it requires the entire assembly to be replaced, think it was about 500 pounds from memory. I have to say Jim, it is the car that has put me off ever buying a diesel engine again. Hope you get it sorted, Dougie
Jim Bowen 1 Posted October 3, 2014 I did get it cheap as it was my dads car he owned from nearly new, so thats the only thing keeping me interested in it. It really has put me off diesels as well, seems to be such a dirty engine inside, soot everywhere. I ended up buying a few bits from Darkside developments last night, including a EGR delete kit. Am quite glad i've found out the car doesn't have a DPF (diesel particulate filter). Just a bit gutted i'm having to spend out on it, was meant to be something reliable to get me to work while i fix up the corrado.

Jim Bowen 1 Posted October 3, 2014 A thing called an Intake Manifold Flap. Fills up with soot and jams, then blows a fuse which is also used by part of the aircon system. Seems really common, loads of people with exactly the same 3 fault codes as me. New part is about £180, Then i spent about £90 on an EGR delete kit. And will now probably have a remap done at some point so the EGR light isn't always on. I can't really afford any of it so gone on the credit card for now. corrado wannabe 12 Posted October 3, 2014 Jim, Another thought, as the car has been in your family, do you know if the injector and wiring harness recall has been carried out on the car? It should be carried out F.O.C at your local Audi dealer Dougie
Jim Bowen 1 Posted October 3, 2014 No, i don't think it has. I know it went in for the flywheel/clutch issue which they fixed. Will have to look into the injector thing.
