junbao 0 Posted June 12, 2004 Hopefully quick and easy -  Sorry to start another thread on this!!  1. Sunroof no work. No motor/relay noise, not a peep. :!: 2. Can tilt manually using key without much problem. 8) Questions - Is there a particular fuse or relay to check, can't find the badger on fuse diagram i have. :? Is a light meant to illuminate the switch (someone mentioned this on another post) if so main interior light works but no switch light. :? :? If its not a fuse, is this where i have to go pick up a new motor off ebay? Thanks guys :) J
Mike Edwards 0 Posted June 12, 2004 Does it slide using the key? I not, there are a number of possible causes, identifying which one it is will save you money. The motors do also burn out when used with a malfunctioning roof.
junbao 0 Posted June 12, 2004 Ah, there has been a development. Sunroof doesn't slide. And when tried to tilt, both sides went up, only RHD side came down. AAAAHHHHHH!FRUSTRATING! Is this the problem everyone was referring to? How much work? Do i need parts seeing as its sunday tomorrow!! Thanks dude, any advice greatly recieved , possible rain here tomorrow!(bl**dy well would be wouldn't there!) J
Mike Edwards 0 Posted June 12, 2004 The the casting that attaches the cable to the mechanism on the left has broken. Replacement is the only answer. The reason the cable broke is that the lhs "water guide plate" (1h0 898 019) has worn/bent/broken. Both need to be replaced. HTH.
junbao 0 Posted June 12, 2004 Cheers mate, so does the repair kit from VW have all the parts needed? (don't want moonroof mod) Will try to get tilted down, saw a thread about guiding it down with a screwdriver!?! Will give it a go and wait for a better time to replace the broken bits.poo. Mike Edwards 0 Posted June 13, 2004 There are several repair kits. The ones you want are: Guide with cable - left (1h0 898 015a); Repair kit for water guide plate - left rear (1h0 898 019). Fiting them means taking the roof out.
