removing and refitting a wing

Recommended Posts

Ive got to change a wing on my vr6.

My question is, how easy is it to remove one wing and refit another?

I dont need to worry about the old wing as its destined for the bin. Are they easy to line up properly when refitting?

Any help would be much appreciated

Bit of a faff tbh. Front bumper needs to be removed, and you'll have a fight getting the old one off as the cavity wax bonds it on good and proper, but it's only a few bolts really. There's one in the door jam, one accessed behind the arch liner, one hidden by the bumper, and the ones in the bonnet shut. That's it really.

Bumper is removed by undoing the outer two bolts on the cross member. Don't undo the middle one as the engine will drop!

I found the worst bit is cutting away the rubbery undercoating in the wheel arch. Once you know the correct route to cut its much easier. Have a look at some photos of removed wings and you see the shape to follow.

Also a bolt on the bottom of the wing that bolts up wards into the floor etc
