joebloggsVR69 0 Posted June 14, 2004 Not a problem as such, but might be early symptoms of one?? When I'm in 1st gear, at low speeds, I've noticed that the gear stick moves back and forth by about 15mm. more noticeable when I've got my hand on the stick  The car drives fine, and it only seems to happen in 1st. Any clues?? :?
Supercharged 2 Posted June 14, 2004 Maybe just early signs of wear in the gear change stick bushes but it probably is not a good idea to drive along with your hand on the stick (not put any force on it anyway)

joebloggsVR69 0 Posted June 14, 2004 Oh dear :( It's MOT & service is due in Sept. Is it safe to wait til then? :|
steveo29 0 Posted June 14, 2004 the engine mounts are nothing to do with the mot....15mm isnt a huge amount, just consider getting the mounts done when you can
joebloggsVR69 0 Posted June 14, 2004 the engine mounts are nothing to do with the mot Yeah thats not what I meant :) Just that its yearly service is every september, which happens to be the same time as the MOT. So I'd rather wait til then if possible to get my mechanic to sort it all out  I've got no idea how to change an engine mount  Maybe it's time I learnt!
