Jim 2 Posted February 5, 2015 Here's a random video to compare against: Will crank over slower possibly due to the cold temperatures outside at the moment - cold cranking power of the battery, and greater resistance thanks to thick cold oil :)
Wayne2015 10 Posted February 5, 2015 Its a hand built car, your a better man than me if you can get rid of all the rattles! lol. You should have PAS. Pump is down at the front right of the engine block. Follow the alternator belt. Check the belt is in decent condition and you can turn it no more than 90 degrees with finger and thumb. Probably worth changing steering fluid if its not been done in a while too. You have to use the correct VW green fluid though, rather than ATF or other red type fluid generally available. Here's a random video to compare against: Will crank over slower possibly due to the cold temperatures outside at the moment - cold cranking power of the battery, and greater resistance thanks to thick cold oil :) Now THAT sounds normal to me!!! My s different! Though I am sat inside the car though....
Wayne2015 10 Posted February 5, 2015 Been looking for the rear spoiler switch everywhere in the cabin Anyone know where it is? So it auto goes up at 60mph? But when does it come down again?

Tigerfish 10 Posted February 5, 2015 The buttons under the sloping panel under the dash, to the right hand side of the steering wheel. Speed depends on year of car by default I think, but you can end up with different speeds if the control unit has been changed. Mine goes up about 46, and drops down again about 5mph. Tigerfish 10 Posted February 5, 2015 Might be quicker to start listing what does work

Thanks Tiger I will check tomorrow ref button. I know my goes up at 60. But do sent come down consistently - some times a few mins after stopped car or sometimes when at low speed. Did read online some say 60 But some say 40. Why would they go up at such low speed of 40???

I'm sure it was something to do with folk getting paranoid about the cops knowing you are speeding if it goes up at 60 or something, despite the fact you could put it up a whatever speed you wanted with the switch. Hairyarse 10 Posted February 6, 2015 Hi Wayne A few random points. My engine starting sounds more like yours than the second video. I've got no fault codes or issues with the car and the engine was rebuilt a few thousand miles ago so hopefully ours are both ok! lol Instead of Rain-X try this - http://www.motorgeek.co.uk/cgi-bin/ecom.cgi?Command=ShowProduct&db_pid=37 This had been applied to my car and I like it (previous owner had applied it.) I wouldn't say that you don't need wipers, but it's noticeable how easily rain comes off the windows. Plus with all this salty spray about, I don't seem to be using screen wash anywhere near as much as usual. Ref the mats, here's a link to my thread on some 'cheapies' I bought off ebay - http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=88848&highlight=floor+mats To be fair they're not bad for the price. They did start to wear quicker than something more pricey in the sense carpet tuft getting fluffy but I guess you pay your money and make your choices ;)

Ref engine noise :) :) : Carpet bargain! Do they have a ROUGH CRUMBLY back? Or rubber backing? How long does Invisible Glass last for u? When does rain start to run off it (40mph)? Wayne2015 10 Posted February 6, 2015 Could figure out how the rear spoiler goes up by pressing button - lol Then realised the button can be pushed UP or DOWN :) Works perfectly :)
Wayne2015 10 Posted February 6, 2015 Door handle can be secured by tightening the screw in the door jam just behind the handle itself. Tailgate trim is secured by quarter turn screws, which are not available and as they're soft plastic, most are in a pretty poor state so may be hard to get hold of the screws. Probably easier to get a second hand replacement trim with screws in place, though not sure how good they'll be. And no, parcel shelf 6x9s are not standard. This big screw? Ray1965 10 Posted February 6, 2015 The button is for when you wash the car, our if you want to show off to the car behind you whilst waiting at junctions, (i have never ever done this though). Should come up around 60 mph and go down at 10 mph (well thats what mine does).

Oh They will also need your car for ONE WEEK speaking from personal experience i would HIGHLY recommend allowing at least a 50% of total cost buffer when you have your engine work done. as is normal with all older cars when you start to refresh/renew fundamental areas it can cause knock on issues, which were not apparent before starting said work, due to connected areas or parts which are ailing & past their best life i tried to think of as much as possible when i had my head rebuild etc done & yet i was still caught out numerous times fortunately vince at stealth has extreme pride in their work & ensured that in the end everything was as we both wanted - huge credit to his tenacity! have a read of my build thread if you want more info http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=44751&highlight=g0ldf1ng3r

Completely understand! My 1989 Prelude was near perfect - then things started to go wrong after a full service! :( Its true sometimes - "if aint broke, do NOT touch!" But sometimes u have to fix, else if it breaks might cause too much damage :( John says they will give the car an overhaul and ensure everything is fine. They would even find someone to sort out bodywork locally (but expensive, coz bodywork person very good) I am planning to leave car with John for 1st week of Easter. If it needs more work, then there s the 2nd week of Easter :) John said they accept credit cards - Phew! Just need to find a ZERO % APR credit card now - lol Thanks for heads up, bud! Will do some maths work before committing next week ...

Will do some maths work before committing next week ... no danger m8. i ended up replacing many more parts than those which were on the original list lol plus you just cant cater for things like the heater matrix pipes collapsing when they fitted the new roose hoses - that was costly even though vince did me a half price on the labour to fit a new matrix! however, on the plus side it meant that apart from attacking the bottom end the majority of the engine related area is now new :D lol oh, if you consider changing your cooling hoses i would recommend using the original VW constant tension clips rather than the jubilee set the hose manf's sell (as long as it doesnt invalidate the warranty on the hoses) FYI check out Post Office for credit card - they have a 0% transfer thingy & also a 3 month 0% on purchases! ;) i know cause i got one 2 weeks ago so as i can put a manifold back longlife stainless system on the VR before its MOT lol
