Hairyarse 10 Posted April 16, 2015 Driver's mirror looks right now Wayne! :thumbleft: Just to expand on the fog light comment, you'll often find on the back of the light unit where the missing bulb would poke through, there's a disc that you can push out which allows you to fit the missing bulb, giving you two, working rear fogs as the connections are already there. Definitely fit the upgraded loom Wayne, as mentioned it's a safer setup and your new bulbs wont make much difference on their own - I know from experience! lol

And if its a case of just plugging in a bulb - Even WAYNE can do that!
Wayne2015 10 Posted April 16, 2015 (edited) If I knew none of my bulbs were actually blown then i wouldnt have bought new bulbs! :( Nevermind... Upgrading bulbs... Fogs (normal bulbs) Just lever it out (NO screws)! Now here the user manual AND Bentley wasnt clear. BOTH say remove TWO screws next to fog light. In fact, u have to remove FOUR screws to remove the WHOLE fog light housing! :shocked!: WD40 to ease some of the screws/holes Headlights + high beam Remove 2 screws either side + loosen (NOT remove) middle screw at bottom of hole (middle) Edited April 16, 2015 by Wayne2015

Wayne2015 10 Posted April 16, 2015 Ok Comparisons between old bulbs and NEW OSRAM bulbs ... OLD pic 1st, immediate followed by NEW pic ...
Wayne2015 10 Posted April 16, 2015 (edited) My opinion? Pics shows new bulbs a tad bit brighter. But in the driving seat they are a LOT brighter :thumb right:  (Apart from fogs, as new bulbs were just standard ones NOT upgrades) But I suppose the cost of replacing all the front bulbs is much GREATER than adding a headlight upgrade loom  Still New problem - my headlight alignments are now out of whack! According to manual, The very headlight securing lugs (left / right) are for adjusting vertical/horizontal movement ... ...and all mine are broken :shocked!: :( Edited April 16, 2015 by Wayne2015
Hairyarse 10 Posted April 17, 2015 That small bulb looks like the one in the central heater control knob that illuminates the panel. Just pull the knob off and you'll see a green plastic bulb holder. Ref the headlights, the top two mounts don't adjust as far as I'm aware, you've got adjusters on the back of the headlight unit.

The directional knob does seems to be broken - so will check behind that! Ref headlight Adjustment I ll double check the Bentley manual tonight! Whats the BEST way to check headlight alignment? Against wall at night isnt it? But how i knos its correct What about fog light alignment?

Hairyarse 10 Posted April 17, 2015 Does Bentley manual not show you about headlight adjustment pattern? You can do against a wall no problem, or Google for general tips. Otherwise, your friendly MOT man may help ;)

But i probably remembered it wrong!
Wayne2015 10 Posted April 17, 2015 Noticed my front lights are GLASS and indicators are PLASTIC So may give this a go ... From Detailing World: http://www.autopia.org/forums/the-detail-institute-presented-by-autopia-carcare-com/41903-autopia-guide-headlight-restoration.html Not a fan of machinery polishers, but will see how long my elbows (or weak heart) will last! :shocked!: Well Decided against sandpaper/machine polish... NOT brave enough  :shocked!: :( So gave lights a clean detail ... Not sure it made any difference by hand??? Wash Clay IPA Gtechniq G4 Nanotech Glass Polish AngelWax H2GO rain repellant x2 coats Gave new wing mirrors a quick clean/rain-repellant too!
Jim Bowen 1 Posted April 17, 2015 I started to sandpaper some fog light lenses but didn't really make much difference. Am thinking i will try it on one of those polishing wheels people mount on a bench.

Even then, some people say they had to DA polish TWICE to clean up! So persevere, buddy! :thumbleft:
Etino 10 Posted April 17, 2015 (edited) I remembered the manual said (right screw for horizontal adjust, left screw for vertical adjust and a back screw for something else ...)?? But i probably remembered it wrong! Screw on the back is a mounting screw, only adjustments goes via the big white knob for height, and the gear-ish screw for horizontal adjustments. Corrado's with electronic height adjustment, have a motor instead of a knob, but have a large brown sprocket on the back of the motor which is also for adjustments. Etino 10 Posted April 17, 2015 (edited) Thanks! I will check! Which Corrado s had electronic adjustment? Optional, and I believe quite rare, don't know if they are more common in the VR6. Adjustments work via a turning knob, next to your headlight switch. Shown here: By the way, just a warning, if you disassemble your headlamps, don't try to get the white knobs out if you don't have to! I disassembled 2 headlamps with them, and both cracked while trying to pry them out with my fingers. Edited April 17, 2015 by Etino

Etino 10 Posted April 17, 2015 I don't think mine s got that :( To be honest, it isn't the most useful option, got the electronic height adjustment option on my Corrado and Golf Mk3, but I actually never use it Which options do you got on the C?
